Investment
Philosophy

The firm adheres to a series of core principles that inform our investment process:

Deep Value Analysis

Cannae’s core principle is to conduct thorough and rigorous analysis of underlying collateral and cash flow waterfalls, seeking deep-value opportunities. This approach leverages decades of experience and proprietary analytics to gain information asymmetry and generate durable, low-correlated risk-adjusted returns.

Asset Selection

The firm embraces an opportunistic investment approach, strategically rotating among sectors, tranches, and geographies in order to optimize risk-adjusted returns, concentrating effort on out-of-favor sectors where the dispersion of collateral values creates attractive opportunity sets.

Capital Appreciation

Capital appreciation and current income take center stage in our philosophy. Cannae aims to purchase assets at or below liquidation levels, with short durations and clear visibility on the timing and  magnitude of cash flows. This focus facilitates the generation of attractive returns while minimizing exposure to market beta.

Collateral Management

Our investment thesis revolves around identifying mispriced securities influenced by market sentiment. Through an active and hands-on approach, the firm seeks to unlock positive returns by engaging in restructurings, repurposing, and refinancing the underlying loans. This proactive strategy adds value and potential upside.

Proprietary Systems

Cannae leverages cutting-edge proprietary systems, utilizing state-of-the-art cloud-based data management and analytical tools. These advanced systems are specifically designed and developed to process large data sets rapidly, enabling the identification of critical assets for granular underwriting. While technology is important, our team’s active solutions-based approach to refinancing and resolution makes us distinctive.

“You can’t achieve diversification by combining expensive assets with cheap assets.”
